Master’s thesis M.Sc. Klara Grahovac on the development of rural tourism in Istria

MSc. Klara Grahovac bases her many years of experience in tourism not only on practice, but also on professional and academic background. At the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb, she completed postgraduate scientific studies in “International Tourism in the National Economy”, defending her master’s thesis entitled “New Types and Forms of Rural Tourism in Istria”.

He has been working since 2007. analyzed the development of tourism in the interior of Istria and pointed out the importance of preserving the space, identity and quality of life of the local community. She placed special emphasis on the authenticity of family accommodation, a personal approach to guests, and sustainable development models that contribute to the destination in the long term, not just the growth of capacity and numbers.

The topics she dealt with – controlled tourism development based on a qualitative development model that prevents mass tourism while simultaneously improving the quality of guest experience and the quality of life of the local population – are today recognized as key challenges of modern tourism. Its conclusions at the time emphasized the need for balanced development that respects the local community and the natural environment.

Professional and academic work of M.Sc. Klara Grahovac represents the foundation of the approach that he still applies in practice today, advocating tourism focused on people, relationships and an authentic experience.
